Bridging Creative Learning and Climate Consciousness

Invitation Only Event: Register to attend by 31st May 2024

Location: FAB 0.20, University of Warwick, Coventry CV4 7AL

Car parking: Car Park 8 –

Join us for a day of inspiration and collaboration. This event brings together local artists, international researchers, and educators passionate about the intersection of art and environmentalism. Through interactive workshops, thought-provoking discussions, and live performances, we’ll explore innovative, arts-led approaches to informal Climate Change Education (CCE) with/for/by young people.

This event celebrates the Research and Development phase of a collaboration between researchers at the University of Warwick and Coventry-based artists, during January to June 2024. They were commissioned to interpret and apply Acting on Climate’s pedagogic practices to their own unique artistic contexts (performance poetry and spoken word, theatre, circus and clowning, and dance and parkour).  These artists will share their unique perspectives and reflections about how the arts might be a catalyst for climate awareness and activism with young people.

We are delighted to be joined by international scholars and artists. One of the highlights of the day includes a workshop led by Professor Kathleen Gallagher, Dr. Christine Balt and playwright and director Andrew Kushnir from the University of Toronto.

To conclude the symposium, Professor Kathleen Gallagher will provide a response, offering insights and reflections on the discussions and presentations throughout the day.
